‘Leviathan Swims’ – CAMP STAG

Taken from their EP Leviathan which is due to be released later this year, Leviathan Swims is a well-constructed track right from the way the song builds to the layers of instruments that can be heard.

They have played at Glastonbury ’13 and had one of their original songs played on BBC R1, big things are expected of Camp Stag and they have not failed to deliver with this single which is just a taste of what is to come from the band later this year.

With a tranquil melody and a soothing tone, the track starts with a vocal and guitar which sounds simple but it completely works for the nature of both the band and track.

As the drum beat fully kicks in the layers start to unravel revealing a piano that allows the track to build right up to a crescendo before dropping back down to the simplicity we heard at the start.

The warm vocals create a sense of synergy between the harsh drum beat and gentle guitar which creates a beautiful and exciting sound.

‘Nothing More Than Everything To Me’ Single Review

A New Testament

‘Nothing More Than Everything To Me’ is the first single to be taken from the upcoming album ‘A New Testament’ by Christopher Owens.

With a country feel running through the introduction, it is already clear that the song will take on a unique tone and persona.

The soft vocals ensure that it is both easy to listen to and catchy which when combined with the simple backing vocals give off a very positive and enticing sound.

There is almost a sixties influence within the song which seems to have a slightly rock n roll element within it, with the guitar solo breaking up the repetition of the track.

The melody is catchy and upbeat which contrasts so well with the moaning and breathy vocals, giving the track a rounded and well written sound.
